Dr. Steve Yusopov is so passionate about his work, and it shows! We love working with him at the Little Baby Face Foundation and are excited to introduce you to this incredibly caring and skilled physician.

The first in his family to join the medical profession, Dr. Yusopov started out his career as a dentist. Following graduation from dental school, he continued his education by entering the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgical residency training program at SUNY Downstate Health Science Center/Kings County Hospital Center, which included exposure to a wide variety of cases from trauma and critical care management to cosmetic plastic surgery procedures.

His skill and professionalism were quickly recognized, as he was appointed Chief Resident at Kings County Hospital Center July 2016 through June 2017 and was awarded Resident of the Year by his colleagues. At King’s County, his training included extensive facial trauma reconstruction, surgical management of dentofacial deformity, dentoalveolar surgery, and benign maxillofacial pathology.

After finishing residency training, Dr.Yusupov went on to train with some of the leaders in the field of Head and Neck oncologic surgery, Facial Plastic and Reconstructive surgery, and Base of Skull surgery at the prestigious NY Head and Neck Institute. In his fellowship, Dr.Yusupov had the privilege of working closely with the past president of American Head and Neck, as well as American Skull Base societies. Additionally, he trained with one of the founding fathers of modern orthognathic surgery and other leaders in surgical subspecialties of head, face, and neck.

Dr. Yusopov’s extensive experience and medical and dental education have permitted him to practice the full scope of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery. He has unique training to manage Head and Neck oncologic disease.

Prior to finding his place at the Little Baby Face Foundation, Dr. Yusopov went on mission trips, as many of our physicians have, as a way to give back. He was excited at the opportunity to partner with the Little Baby Face Foundation, as it gives him the opportunity to help so many children while reducing the time away from a busy practice, and he is also able to perform more complex surgeries here at home.

What inspires Dr. Yusopov most is the advances in modern medical procedures and the cross-disciplinary skill set that he can provide. For example, he shared a story with us about a patient who had lost part of their jaw. 10 years ago that person would have lost the ability to eat, and possibly speak and eat. Now, he can potentially harvest bone from the femur (thigh bone), build a jaw, and because he’s also a dentist, put in the dental implants restoring the ability to eat, speak, and smile!

“The only patient complaint now is the shade of the implant matching existing teeth!” he laughed. “Look how far we've come! I'll take that!”

We have to agree. It’s absolutely incredible what Dr. Yusopov can do. He’s truly changing children’s lives at The Little Baby Face Foundation and beyond!
