We hosted our annual Fall Fête last week at the Neue Galerie in New York City, founded by Lauder & Sabarsky and home of the famous Gustav Klimt painting Portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer, popularly referred to as “The Woman in Gold.” We look forward to planning and attending this event each year, not only because it’s always such a fun evening, but also because it helps us raise awareness for children with facial birth defects in need of medical treatment. It’s a time for us to express our gratitude towards the many people who help make our work possible, from the physicians to the staff, partners, and even the children themselves. We are honored to have the opportunity to make a difference in their lives, as well as in their family’s lives. Everyone at the Little Baby Face Foundation is passionate about changing the world one smile at a time, and our benefits are a time to celebrate everything we’ve accomplished and will continue to accomplish over time.
Dr. Steve Yusupov was honored with an award at the fall fête this year, a well-deserved recognition of his dedication and hard work for the Foundation. We are so thankful to him, as we know so many of our children and families are. Bjorn, who recently had his hearing restored with a bone anchored hearing aid, was in attendance looking handsome as ever, to present Dr. Yusopov with the Excellence in Transformative Care award.
In his speech, Dr. Yusopov explained how the Little Baby Face Foundation has helped him in his pursuit to help others. “We became doctors, surgeons to do what we do because of our passion for it. I love doing what I do, and like Joy said—you took my line—‘the easiest thing I do is operate.’ What’s hard is getting the patient there and getting the patient to the operating room, and Little Baby Face Foundation is what helps us, with cases that you guys saw today. These cases come to us. Sometimes, we get asked to be involved, or they find us, and we really want to help. I had patients in my office where I was scratching my head and saying, ‘I want to do this, and I have no resources to do this.’ Turned to the Foundation, and at this point, I think over a dozen times we were able to help our patients.”
Dr. Yusopov finished his speech by thanking the Little Baby Face Foundation and everyone involved for making this possible. He looks forward to continuing to make a difference in these childrens’ lives.
Dylan, who recently underwent a double jaw surgery performed by Dr. Yusupov, gave an incredible speech and testimonial. We were touched to hear his experience and were so impressed with how articulate and confident he sounded, a true testament to how far he’s come in his treatment.
Bjorn’s mother, Vinola, also made a touching speech. “I felt alone and lost in a maze of medical jargon, and with no clear treatment option. But, I found the Little Baby Face Foundation. Bjorn is now receiving the specialized care he needs to not just survive but thrive. Dr. Romo has now given him hope by giving him an ear, along with the implants by Dr. Kohan so that he has full hearing in both ears. For this, we are eternally grateful.”
She continued by thanking Dr. Romo, Dr. Kohan, and Dr. Yusopov “for their professionalism, sincerity, and the kindness shown to us throughout this process.” She also thanked the staff at the Little Baby Face Foundation, the hospitals, and the Ronald McDonald House Foundation.
She closed her speech by addressing our donors, past and future, “I urge you all to consider the impact you make by supporting the Little Baby Face Foundation. Your contributions, big or small, can change lives like they changed ours.”
If you are interested in helping us to make a difference and provide transformational treatment to a child struggling with facial birth defects that greatly impact their quality of life, you can make a tax-deductible donation on our website. All donations, big or small, just as Bjorn’s mother said, have the power to change lives.
